CloudStorm Name

We chose our company name based on our vision and core competencies. We believe the "Cloud" is the future of computing and organizations, including government, will increasingly turn to the cloud as a primary deployment platform for both applications and infrastructure. That's not to say we don't see a need for on-premise solutions because there are a number of valid reasons organizations will continue to choose on-premise as their preferred deployment option. However, the rapid adoption of platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Heroku, etc. will continue to grow rapidly. We practice what we preach. This website was originally built using an AWS server for the front end (JavaScript using the angular framework) and Heroku for the backend services and REST APIs (built using the open source django framework). We recently consolidated the entire website into the django framework on Heroku, but we still leverage AWS for file storage, continuous deployment builds, and other functions.

The "Storm" part or the CloudStorm name is a reference to the vast quantities of data that organizations continue to rapidly amass. However, many organizations are drowning in data and don't know how to harness their data. One of our core competencies is to help our clients transform data into useful information, and more importantly, into intelligence that can be used to gain and maintain a competitive advantage. Of course, the "internet of things" (IoT) will only lead to the exponential growth in data and a critical success factor for many organizations will be how effectively they can manage their data.

CloudStorm Services

Our IT and Engineering services are independent, but there is substantial overlap as well. Virtually all systems and processes benefit from applications that help users visualize underlying data. A great example is a manufacturing execution system (MES) that measures plant performance and industry standard metrics such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). The "engineering" side of an effective MES solution focuses on collecting real time data (speed, defects, temperature, torque, etc.) via sensors and programmable logic controllers (PLC) while the "IT" side is concerned with processing all the data and displaying information for use in assessing and managing business performance. Please see the respective Information Technology and Engineering pages for more detail on our specific services.

We look forward to hearing from you. Feel free to send us an email with any questions or comments and consider subscribing to our blog posts on topics of interest related to information technology and engineering.

There's a data storm coming...make sure your organization is ready!
